BISMARCK, ND – The serving for the University of Mary volleyball team was incredible tonight as the Marauders recorded an astounding 10 aces on the match against MSU Moorhead. The Marauders and Dragons battled hard in four exciting sets with MSUM obtaining a 3-1 victory over UMary. A well-rounded performance by Schnabel led the Marauders, recording 13 kills, 11 digs, two blocks, and two aces. Her 13 kills were a game high. Joining Schnabel in posting game highs, Natalia Cruz set a game high in digs with 21 while Sydney Murphy's four aces tied for a game high.
With the loss the Marauders fall to 1-24 on the season and 0-16 in NSIC play. MSUM improves to 9-15 overall and 4-12 in conference play.
PIVOT POINT
After dropping the first set the Marauders came storming back to win the second set by five. The five point set victory would be the largest of the match in this highly competitive matchup between the Marauders and Dragons. The Dragons took the lead early in set number three but UMary fought back to take a 16-14 lead. MSUM then rallied off six straight points to claim momentum and eventually the set. Set four was a back and forth thriller with UMary holding a 22-20 lead late, looking to force a fifth set. The Dragons then went on to score the final five points of the set to claim a 25-22 set win and the match.

The Marauders and the Dragons combined for 19 service aces on the game with the Marauders setting a game high with 10. Double digit aces in a match is something that is not seen too often, and the Marauders did it tonight. Five different Marauders recorded aces tonight with Sydney Murphy leading the way with four. Cruz and Schnabel each had a pair with Breanna Donarski and Julianna Hughes posting one each.
