LOGAN, UT – Alex Flicek snapped a second period tie and Zach Garrett added a third period goal to lead the University of Mary to a 4-2 win over Utah State University on the third day of the Beehive Showcase. Ranked first in the ACHA Division II West region and second in the nation, the Marauders defeated the Aggies for the second time this season.
 
The Marauders improve to 23-3 overall this season and 46-0-1 the last two seasons against West region teams. The Aggies, who lost to the Marauders 10-0 during the Icebreaker in Mandan, ND, slip to 8-7-0.
 
UMary and Utah State traded first period goals. After the Aggies scored first, Andrew Heckaman pulled the Marauders even at 14:27.
 
The roles reversed in the second period. UMary scored first when Mat Winkle found the back of the net at 8:10. Just 49 seconds later the Aggies pulled even.
 
The sudden flurry of goals continued when Flicek scored at 10:47 to give the Marauders a 3-2 lead. Garrett closed out the Marauders victory when he scored at 12:07 of the third period.
 
The lone UMary player to score multiple points in the game, Flicek also assisted on the Winkle goal.
 
Kyle Hayden posted 26 saves for the Marauders to claim the win. Colter Pritchard made 45 saves for the Aggies.
 
The Marauders close out the Beehive Showcase against Montana State University at 12 noon Central.
