Marauders Host Tommies For Pair Of Games This Weekend

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary hockey team welcomes St. Thomas to town for a pair of home games this weekend. UMary will first host the Tommies at 7 pm on Saturday, November 16. They will follow that up with a game at 2 PM on Sunday, November 17. Both games will take place in the Schwan Cadillac Rink in the Starion Sports Complex.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the ice was for a home and home with Dakota Colllege at Bottineau. UMary put up six goals in each game, winning the first 6-1 and the second 6-2. In the home portion for the Marauders, UMary hosted a Military Appreciation Game and honored our veterans in front of a packed house.
 
RECORDS
The Marauders boast a 18-3 record. St. Thomas comes into the matchup with a 10-3 record. UMary's 18 wins are the most in ACHA Division 2.

The Marauders rank #1 in the West Region Poll this season. The Marauders have been #1 in the west since the first rankings came out last season.
 
TEDDY BEAR TOSS COMING SOON
The Marauders hockey team will be hosting a teddy bear toss on Friday, December 14 in the game against NDSU. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to throw onto the ice after the Marauders first goal of the game. With your help we will brigten a child's day with the gift of a stuffed animal.
 
SCORING MACHINES
The Marauders certainly know how to make the goal horn sound. UMary has recorded an impressive 101 goals on the season, averaging just under five goals per game. Seth Cushing leads the team with 14 goals on the season. Right behind him is Alex Flicek with 13 and Andy Huber with 11. A total of 18 different Marauders have found the back of the net this season. Cushing is 25th in the nation in goals scored.
 
NOT IN OUR HOUSE
Lance Knudson picked up right where he left off by winning games. Knudson has started the season 11-3, recording 311 saves on the season. Kyle Hayden has a 7-0 record, recording 131 saves. Knudson's 11 wins are second in the nation and his 311 saves is fifth.
 
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
The Marauders sure know how to distribute the puck with 22 athletes recording assists on the season. Matt Winkle leads the team with 19 assists. Kyler Moore is second on the team with 15. Winkle is 15th in the nation in assists.
 
BREAKING RECORDS
The Marauders only took two games to break a record from their first season. The Marauders recorded a program record of ten goals in their victory over NDSU in game number two.
Just a few weeks later they matched that record with a 10-0 win over Utah State. The 10-goal victory was the largest victory in program history.
 
TRIPLED UP
The Marauders have nearly tripled up their opponents in goals scored this season. UMary is outscoring their competition by a score of 101-33.
 
GOT FANS?
One thing that has not changed from last season is the tremendous amount of support the Marauders receive from the community. For the second year in a row, the Marauders won their first game of the season in front of a sold-out crowd!
