ABERDEEN, SD – Breena Delegge, Rylie Webb, and Victoria Murillo combined to claim seven of the University of Mary's eleven event wins in the Marauders dual against Northern State. Claiming victory in 11 of the 16 events led the Marauders to a 154-107 victory over NSU. With the win, UMary improves to 3-3 on the season.
The Marauders got things rolling in impressive fashion, claiming first place in the first five events. It was the 200 yard medley team of Alyssa Boese, Rylie Webb, Mackenzie Houston, and Victoria Murillo that opened the day with an event win. Zipping through the pool in a time of 1:52.52, nearly 3.5 seconds faster than their opponent.
Victoria Murillo got the individual events rolling, dominating the 1000 free, winning by 36.7 seconds with a time of 10:40.95. Her time is currently the 2nd fastest time in the NSIC and 28th fastest time in the nation.
Breena Delegge claimed victory in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.59. Her teammate, Andrea Lee took second with a time of 1:58.54.
Alyssa Boese took first by over two seconds in the 100 yard backstroke, cruising to a time of 1:00.69. In second was Rachel Riedel with a time of 1:02.85.
Rylie Webb took the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:08.42, two seconds ahead of second place. Hannah Espinosa finished in second with a time of 1:10.60.
Alyssa Boese took second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:21.87.
Delegge continues to dominate the freestyle sprints, winning the 50 yard free in a time of 25.12 seconds. She followed that up with an event win in the 100 yard free with a time of 54.44.
Rachel Riedel won the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.82. Finishing in second place was her teammate, Kate Murphy, posting a time of 2:15.91. Riedel's time tonight ranks her fifth in the NSIC in the 200 backstroke.
Victoria Murillo dominated the 200 yard breaststroke, winning by seven seconds with a time of 2:26.19. Hannah Espinosa took second, finishing with a time of 2:33.17. Murillo's time posted tonight is the 3rd fastest time in the NSIC and 29th fastest time posted in NCAA Division II this year.
Andrea Lee won the 500 free in impressive fashion, finishing 18 seconds faster than her nearest competition. Lee posted a time of 5:16.48. Mary Williamson took third with a time of 5:44.65.
Mackenzie Houston finished second in the 100 yard fly, posting a time of 1:00.71.
Rylie Webb rounded out individual competition with a five second win in the 200 yard IM, recording a time of 2:14.67.
Wrapping up the meet, UMary took second in the 200 yard free relay with the team of Mackenzie Houston, Mady Scherwinski, Breena Delegge, and Victoria Murillo. The squad posted a time of 1:41.71.
The Marauders will have a few weeks away from competition in preparation for the Sioux Falls Invitational November 21-23 in Sioux Falls, SD.
