Making their longest road trip of the season, the University of Mary visits Winona State University and Upper Iowa University for the squad's final 2-game weekend road trip of the season. The Marauders first face the Warriors of Winona State at 6 pm on Friday, Oct. 25, in Winona, MN. UMary then visits the Peacocks of Upper Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 pm in Fayette, IA.

The Marauders enter the weekend with a mark of 7-2-2 overall and 5-2-2 for 17 points and a three-way tie for 5
th place in the NSIC standings… WSU is 5-8 overall and 4-6 for 12 points and a tie for 8

MARAUDERS 9th IN UNITED SOCCER COACHES REGIONAL POLL
The Marauders cracked the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's Central region poll for the first time this season. UMary checked in at #9. Central Missouri leads the poll, followed by Concordia-St. Paul, Minnesota State, Augustana, Northeastern State, Emporia State, Fort Hays State, Bemidji State, UMary and Central Oklahoma. The Marauders are 1-2-1 against teams in the regional rankings, defeating MSU 2-1, tying CSP 0-0, and losing to Augie and BSU by 1-0 scores (the BSU loss was in the second overtime session).

FAST START
The Marauders are 7-2-2 to tie UMary's NCAA era mark for the program's best start through 11 games. Â The 2017 Marauders squad posted an identical record at the same mile marker. The 2017 side finished 12-5-1 overall and advanced to the NSIC playoff semifinals.

REWIND
The Marauders extended their win streak to three games and moved into fifth place in the conference standings with a pair of wins over Parents Weekend. The Marauders rolled past Southwest Minnesota State 3-0 on Senior Night on goals by seniors Sidney Burrrell and
Patricia Martin and junior
Samantha Guzman. Martin also had an assist and
Malia Brudvik added assists on the last two UMary goals.
Madisyn Waltman had nine saves in the game… Martin scored the lone goal in the Marauders 1-0 win over Sioux Falls, her second game-winner in three games.
Hannah Richter had the assist on the game-winning goal for the second straight game. The Marauders dominated the stat sheet, outshooting USF 24-2 and not allowing the Cougars a shot on frame.

LAST ROAD WEEKEND
This is the last road weekend of the season for the Marauders. The following weekend is a home-and-away series, hosting Minnesota Duluth on Friday, Nov. 1, before visiting St. Cloud State on Sunday, Nov. 3. The last week of the season includes a midweek makeup game against Northern State on Wednesday, Nov. 6, before closing the regular season comes to a close on Friday, Nov. 8, with a visit from Minot State. BRUDVIK NAMED NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK, MARTIN AND WALTMAN EARN MENTIONS
Senior defender
Malia Brudvik was named the NSIC for the second time in her career after posting two assists and leading the Marauders to a pair of shutout wins. In addition to the two assists she helped the Marauders defense limit two foes to 11 combined shots and only nine shots on frame in the two games. Against the Mustangs, Brudvik assisted on the Marauders second and third goals, both coming off set pieces. She triggered her first assist off a corner kick with the second a free kick served just outside of the goal box. SMSU was limited to nine shots – all on frame from a distance – with all coming at the edges or outside the penalty area. The Marauders then smothered the Cougars offense to complete the weekend sweep. USF managed just two shots, neither of which was on frame...Two other Marauders earned Top Performances accolades from the NSIC for their efforts last weekend… Senior forward
Patricia Martin posted goals in both Marauders weekend home wins and added an assist in the opener. On Senior Night against SMSU, she assisted on the game-winning goal before scoring the second goal in a 3-0 win over the Mustangs. Martin followed by scoring the lone goal in the Marauders 1-0 win over the Cougars on Sunday. In her last three games, she has three goals, two game-winning goals, and an assist on another game-winner… Sophomore goalkeeper
Madisyn Waltman posted a pair of shutouts over weekend. In the 3-0 win over SMSU she faced nine shots - all on target - and made nine saves. In the 1-0 win over Sioux Falls, she faced two shots while directing Marauders defensive alignment. For the season Waltman has eight shutouts in 11 games, leads NSIC in goals allowed/game (.258) and save percentage (.943), and ranks in top two of NCAA Division II in all three categories.

MARTIN STRIKING WHILE HOT
Patricia Martin entered her senior season with two career goals, both scored her freshman season. She has exceeded that total in the last week, scoring thee goals in three games that also happens to correspond with a three-game win streak for the Marauders. Martin scored the game-winning goal in a 7-0 win at Minnesota Crookston, scored the second goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 3-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State, and scored the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Sioux Falls.

Malia Brudvik posted a pair of assists in the Marauders 3-0 win over the Mustangs. The senior defender now has five helpers on the season to rank fifth in the NSIC.

Hannah Richter provided the assist on both game-winning goals for the Marauders this season. Showing the ability to break down opposing defenses on a regular basis, the junior leads the team with four goals and also has three assists for 11 points, also a team best. Richter ranks 8
th in the NSIC in points per game (1.0).

The Marauders defense has been stellar through the first 11 games of the season. UMary ranks third in the nation in goals against average (0.258) and first in save percentage (.944). The Marauders have two transfers from Peninsula College in Post Angeles, WA, and the pair combined for the Marauders final goal against Wayne State.
Samantha Guzman, a junior defender in her first season at UMary scored the goal with an assist going to
Malia Brudvik, a senior defender who had previously played with Guzman at Peninsula. The pair also combined for a goal against SMSU with Guzman scoring the counter off a Brudvik assist.

The University of Mary has advanced to the Northern Sun tournament's semifinals for the last two years, a feat accomplished by the Marauders, Minnesota State and Augustana in the 16-team league.

25th SEASON OF MARAUDERS SOCCER
The first University of Mary soccer teams took to the pitch for the first time in 1995 and this season we are celebrating 25 seasons of Marauders men's and women's soccer.

G-OOOOOOO-AL
The Marauders exploded for seven goals in a 7-0 win against the Golden Eagles on Oct. 14 to set a team record for counters in an NCAA game. Additionally three Marauders –
Noelle Vigneri,
Maureen Sullivan and
Emma Davies – each scored two goals and had an assist in the game. This is the first time UMary had thee players score two or more goals each in an NCAA game. The previous best was two when
Amy Tanaka and
Megan Wilson both tallied twice against MSU Moorhead on Oct. 12, 2008… The Marauders peppered the UMC net with 32 shots, a total exceeded by the school in an NCAA contest just once when UMary fired 43 shots at Sioux Falls in 2007. UMary finished with 26 shots on frame against UMC. The Golden Eagles had 10 total shots with just one on net… Not to be overlooked in the offensive onslaught, the Marauders posted two goals in just 15 seconds to open the scoring against UMC.
