MOORHEAD, MN – For the second game in a row, the University of Mary volleyball team was led by freshman
Nehkyah Ellis, who posted her second straight double-double. Ellis led the Marauders to a set win in their fourth straight game. Unfortunately, a set was all the Marauders were able to take from Minnesota State – Moorhead. UMary took control of the game immediately, taking the first set. The Dragons were able to rebound and take the next three sets to take down the Marauders in four sets. UMary held the advantage on the game in aces, assists, and digs while pulling even with the Dragons in kills.
With the loss the Marauders fall to 1-17 on the season and 0-9 in the conference. MSUM improves to 8-9 overall and 3-6 in NSIC play.
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders jumped out to an early lead and took the first set behind dominant hitting by Ellis, Schnabel, and Berge. The second set was a close one, locked at 19 late in the set. MSUM rallied together a 6-1 run to claim victory in the second. In the third set, the Dragons were able to take a 17-13 lead over the Marauders. The two teams exchanged points but UMary was unable to narrow the four-point deficit, falling behind two sets to one. In the fourth set, the Marauders led 19-17 late, looking to extend the match to five sets. MSUM then rallied off four straight points as part of an 8-2 run which gave them the set and the match.

Nehkyah Ellis posted a double-double with 16 kills, 16 digs, and two aces. She had a .213 hitting percentage
Natalia Cruz recorded a game high of 18 digs to go along with her two assists and an ace
Caitlin Schneeweis had eight kills with a .250 hitting percentage, an ace, and three digs
Jessica Oja recorded 22 assists and nine digs
Morgan Schnabel posted seven kills, eight digs, and two blocks
Julianna Hughes recorded five kills with a .267 hitting percentage and three blocks
Katja Berge had six kills and a block
Anna Nietfeld had 13 digs and an ace
Brittany Brusven posted 18 assists and four digs
STAT OF THE GAME
Nehkyah Ellis certainly has made an enormous impact for the Marauders in the last few games, specifically the last two, recording her first two career double-doubles. Ellis dominated today, recording 16 kills and 16 digs. Ellis did a bit of everything for the Marauders, adding a solo block and two aces to her stat line. She not only recorded a lot of kills but she did it efficiently, posting a hitting percentage of .213.

The Marauders return home this weekend for a pair of games. UMary will host Minnesota State on Friday, October 18 at 6 PM in the MAC. This game will be live on BEK television.
