MINOT, ND – The University of Mary Volleyball team traveled north to battle their instate rival Minot State. The Beavers came to play against the Marauders, sweeping UMary in three sets. Minot State, playing their best match of the season, held the advantage in every statistical category. The Marauders Sydney Murphy has brought herself incredibly close to the 1,000 assists milestone. The junior now needs just six more assists to reach the milestone.
 
This match counted as a non-conference match. With the loss, UMary falls to 1-12 on the season and 0-4 in NSIC play. Minot State improves to 1-12 and 0-4 in conference play.
 
PIVOT POINT
Minot State jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first set. They used this momentum to claim victory in the first set. This momentum spilt into the follow two sets, allowing the Beavers to sweep UMary.

Julianna Hughes recorded a team high seven kills and one block
 
Sydney Murphy recorded 16 assists and four digs
 
Natalia Cruz posted 15 digs and three assists
 
Caitlin Schneeweis had five kills

STAT OF THE GAME
Everyone got involved for the Marauders during the match against Minot State. Eight different Marauders recorded a kill on the match. Eleven different Marauders were able to post a dig on the match as well.

UP NEXT
The Marauders will return home this weekend following their three-game road trip. UMary will take on #3 Minnesota Duluth on Friday, October 4 at 6 PM in the McDowell Activity Center. They will follow that up with their PINK OUT match against St. Cloud State on Saturday, October 5 at 2 PM. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a free shirt!
