UMary can't solve #3 Clan in front of another big home crowd on 1st day of Marauders Invite

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary opened play at the Marauders Classic today against the NCAA's third ranked team and the only NCAA program to reside in Canada. The Simon Fraser Clan showed exactly why they are a NCAA powerhouse against the Marauders pulling away to win 5-0.

The Marauders had another epic turnout with over 300 fans turning out to the pitch on the UMary campus, hoping to see an upset of one of the NCAA's best teams.

UMary had chances to score early with two breakaways that ended in a ball handling error and a faulty connection on a pass. The Marauders played hard but struggled against the Clan's dominant defense, only taking three shots on goal during the entire match.

Lukas Billhardt recorded a game-high six saves but try as he might, he could not stop the precision passing and scoring of the Clan. The Clan had both Matteo Polisi and Connor Glennon knock in two goals and Rahid Rahiem adding a goal of his own.

The Marauders improved on their performance against Simon Fraser University from last year, allowing three fewer goals in today's match.

In today's first game of the Marauders Classic, MSU Billings defeated Oklahoma Baptist 2-1.

UMary (2-3 overall) is back in action to close out the Marauders Classic on Saturday, September 15 at 3 pm when they take on Montana State University – Billings on the campus pitch. The day opens with Simon Fraser facing Oklahoma Baptist at 11 am.
