WATFORD CITY, ND – Relocated to western North Dakota from eastern South Dakota, home runs proved the downfall for the University of Mary baseball team in a pair of losses to the University of Sioux Falls as the Cougars scored all but three of their home runs on four swings of the bat. Hitting a pair of home runs in both games of a Northern Sun midweek doubleheader, the Cougars defeated the Marauders 7-2 and 6-2.
GAME 1 University of Sioux Falls 7 UMary 2
Bookend 2-run home runs by Josh Rehwaldt in both the first and the sixth innings lifted Sioux Falls past UMary 7-2.
PIVOT POINT
The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a 2-run blast by Rehwaldt. The Marauders were unable to overcome the defict.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Marauders pitchers allowed just six hits but walked six and struck out three.
Ian Fisher pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
Five Marauders had hits in the game.
Jesus Payan had a double and scored a run.
Rehwaldt was 2-for-3 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBIs.
Dylan Gavin scored twice, both on Rehwaldt homers.
Matt Graham allowed four hits, two walks and two runs in six innings to gain the win.

GAME 2 USF 6 UMary 2
A pair of 3-run home runs, one by Alex Elizondo and the second by Anthony Lopez, delivered USF all the runs they needed in the game. Elizondo provided a 3-0 lead for Sioux Falls in the second inning. UMary scored single runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to pull within a run before Lopez put the game out reach with his 3-run home run in the seventh.
