BISMARCK, ND – Back on the winning track, the University of Mary tennis team stormed past the University of Minnesota Crookston 9-0 in a Northern Sun dual. UMary won all six singles matches in straight sets and posted shutouts in two doubles matches and three singles matches.
The Marauders win snapped a three-game losing skid overall and two in the NSIC.
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders swept the three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-1 to provide UMary a commanding 3-0 lead that UMC couldn't overcome in singles play. The Marauders #1 doubles team of
Tasha Dembo and
Eileen Leong, reunited after Leong missed last weekend due to sickness, set the tone with an 8-1 win over Whitney Erickson and Reanne Erickson.
Kelsey Lajom and
Lucia Bolibruch at UMary's #2 doubles and
Lisa Anderson and
Emily Bichler at #3 doubles both shut out their foes 8-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Eileen Leong (#4 singles),
Cristina Bremar (#5 singles) and
Emily Bichler (#6 singles) swept their opponents without giving up a single point on the day. All three earned 6-0, 6-0 straight set wins.
The Marauders top three singles players also dominated their matches.
Tasha Dembo (#1),
Lucia Bolibruch (#2) and
Kelsey Lajom (#3) all claimed 6-1, 6-0 victories.

The Six Marauders singles players were scored upon in just three of 12 sets on the day.

UMary concludes the weekend against the Bemidji State University Beavers at 9 am Sunday, March 25, at Courts Plus in Fargo, ND. Should the Marauders (5-7 overall, 3-5 NSIC) defeat the Beavers (6-4, 4-4), UMary would jump into the top half of the conference standings.
