DULUTH, MN – An offensive outage by the visiting University of Mary men's basketball team in the final minutes of the game allowed the University of Minnesota Duluth to overtake the Marauders down the stretch for a 67-60 Bulldogs win.
Holding a double digit lead early in the second half, the Marauders held a 60-54 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the game when
Trevor Zacher knocked down his second trey of the game. It proved to be the last points of the night for UMary.
Behind a pair of 3-pointers, a jumper and five free throws in ten attempts, the Bulldogs scored the final 13 points of the game. After a solid effort shooting the ball in the opening half, the Marauders missed their final six shots of the night and committed one turnover. UMD also out-rebounded UMary 8-1 in the final three minutes.
Freshman
Wyatt Carr led the Marauders in scoring with 12 points, coming off the bench to drain four treys in seven attempts. He also had four assists.
Keith Hunter added nine points, six rebounds and four assists. Jaylen White chipped in seven points and a career-best eight assists.
Michael Gorder and Zacher both had eight points.
Jake Wilson led UMD with 24 points. Brandon Myer added 16 points and nine rebounds.
UMary (5-19 overall, 3-17 NSIC) shot 42 percent from the field, boosted by a 11-for-26 effort behind the arc. The Marauders were 3-for-4 at the free throw line. UMD (11-15, 7-13) made 52 percent of its shots and finished 12-for-20 on free throws.
The Marauders returns home to close out the regular season on February 16-17 as Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota Crookston visit the McDowell Activity Center.
