PRIOR TO UMARY
A two-time 2A first team all-state section, Jaylan White scored 1,882 points in his career at Interstate 35 High School and is Iowa's all-time leader in steals with 463. White is sixth all-time in the state with 651 assists. As a senior he averaged 25.6 points/game, fifth best across all six classes of basketball in Iowa, 8.1 assists and 5.8 steals per game. He led all prep players in the state with 129 steals and was sixth with 180 assists. White shot 54.7 percent from the floor and 41.9 percent behind the arc. Prior to his senior season, White was ranked as one of the top ten players in Iowa and was the 2A preseason player of the year, according to the Des Moines Register, after leading his class in points, assists and steals as a junior. White, who once scored 42 points in a game, was team captain and the team's most valuable player all four years of high school. He also earned first team all-conference honors four straight seasons.
 
Student council president, a Knowledge Bowl competitor, a member of the National Honor Society and honor roll student, Jaylan is the son of James and Dinah White and plans to major in sports management at the University of Mary.
