Flicek tallies twice as Marauders complete weekend, season sweep of Montana State

BOZEMAN, MT – Alex Flicek scored a pair of goals for the second straight game and the University of Mary hockey team competed their weekend road sweep of Montana State University with a 6-2 victory. The Marauders, ranked first in the ACHA Division II West region rankings, also completed a season sweep of the Bobcats, defeating MSU four times this season with no game closer than three goals.

The Marauders demoralized the Bobcats by scoring the first five goals of the game, including four in the opening 11 minutes of the second period.

Josh Colleaux started the scoring just 6:35 into the game, converting a feed from Jakob Parisien. Despite a combined 24 shots – 13 for UMary – it was the only goal of the opening session.

The Marauders struck early in the second. Marshall Tschida tallied UMary's lone power play goal of the game in six chances just 2:17 into the period to double the visitor's lead to 2-0. A scant 18 seconds later Flicek scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal, the second straight day he has had that distinction. Flicek then posted his second counter of the contest at 8:18. Zachery Garrett finished the Marauders outburst with a goal at 10:55 to increase the UMary lead to 5-0.

Leading 5-1 in the third, the Marauders last goal of the game was scored by Peter Pavek at 16:11 of the third period. It was Pavek's first goal of the season.

The Marauders held a massive 49-27 edge in shots. Lance Knudson stopped 25 shots for UMary to earn the victory.

Now 26-2-2 on the season, the Marauders return home for three straight games next week. UMary hosts the University of Jamestown on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7 pm. The University of St. Thomas then arrives for a two-game set on Dec. 14-15. The puck drops at 7 pm on Friday and 2 pm on Saturday.
