Â
JUNIOR MINTS
As big as a class as the senior class is with seven players, the junior class is even bigger with eight.
Â
GOLDEN TOUCH
Caylin Cathey has the golden touch right now. The senior forward has scored six of the Marauders 12 goals this season. She also has an assist for a team-leading 13 points. Her two                                                                     Â
game-winning goals also pace the program. The All-NSIC player is third in the league in goals scored and her 13 points is fifth.
Â
HELPING HAND
Sophomore
Hannah Richter has proved to be a dangerous offensive weapon for the Marauders from the back row. The defender from Bismarck, ND, has two goals and three assists. She is second on the team in goals and points (7) and leads in assists. Her assist total is fifth best in the NSIC.
Â
CLEAN
Freshman goalkeeper
Madisyn Waltman owns a pair of shutouts this season, 1-0 on the road over MSU Moorhead and 2-0 against Wayne State. The native of Sioux Falls, SD, set a career-high in saves with 12 in an overtime loss to Minnesota State last weekend. For the year her goals against average of 1.32 is tenth in the NSIC.
Â
SUFFOCATING
The Marauders defense allows just 10.2 shots per game. By comparison, the UMary offense is taking 12.2 shots/game. Only once have the Marauders allowed more than 11 shots in a game. Additionally the UMary defense has allowed more than seven shots on goal in game just once with six games allowing five or fewer.
Â
NEWCOMERS
A handful of new Marauders have made their first starts for UMary this season. Freshmen
Madisyn Waltman and Snædís Daníelsdóttir both have started in goal for the Marauders and earned wins.
Malia Brudvik, a defender who transferred from Peninsula College, has started six games and
Sidney Burrell, a transfer from Sheridan College, owns a pair of starts.
Â
MORE NEW FACES
Additionally freshmen
Rebekah Bittner and
Reegin Kehn also have seen action this year with two appearances each.
Â
REINFORCEMENTS
Three Marauders limited by injury last year have returned to the pitch. A sophomore,
Patricia Martin was limited to just one game last season returned to see significant time in all nine games.
Katie Berg and
Kacee Bailey, senior defenders who missed all of last year, also have seen action. Berg has played in six games and started once.
Â
SENIOR SALUTE
The Marauders feature five seniors in the starting lineup. Midfielders
Caitlin Dooley and
Megan Lowery both earned all-conference and all-region honors last season. Forwards
Jade Smith and
Caylin Cathey received All-Northern Sun honors. The fifth senior is Lisa Swärdh, who already has a goal and an assist on the season.
