FAYETTE, IA – The University of Mary men's soccer team headed down to Iowa to take on the Upper Iowa Peacocks today. The Marauders came out fast scoring the lone goal of the game in just the second minute of action. The Marauders would take home a 1-0 victory on Pattison Field to give themselves their fourth victory of the season.
With the win the Marauders improve to 4-8-1 on the season.
Joel McIlroy would not waste any time scoring his first goal of the season. The leading scorer for the Marauders during the 2017 season would blast home a goal past the Peacocks keeper just 1:39 into the match.
Alberto Asencio,
Adam Stringer,
Zack Jensen and
Gabriel Carvalho would all try to add to the lead, all firing off shots on goal. The Peacocks goalkeeper Bradley Kaufer would be able to bat those away.
The Marauders defense was excellent today only allowing the Peacocks to get off five shots on goal.
Lukas Billhardt would handle every shot on goal with ease, not allowing a single one to sneak past him. This was Billhardt's third shutout of the season.
UMary will make the long trip to Hays, Kansas for a rematch against #10 Fort Hays State for their final match of the season. The match will take place on Sunday, November 3 at 7 PM.
