Marauders men's soccer takes #10 Fort Hays State down to the wire

HAYS, KS – The University of Mary men's soccer team took the long road trip down the Hays, Kansas for a rematch against #10 Fort Hays State in their final game of the season. The Marauders came into the match looking for redemption after the Tigers handed UMary a 7-0 loss on senior night. The Marauders played impeccable defense for the first 85 minutes of play but FHSU would pull away 2-0 in the closing minutes of the game to hand UMary a loss.

The Marauders conclude their season with a 4-10-1 record.

The UMary defense was stout today, performing incredibly. Lukas Billhardt posted a game high of eight saves. He would go the first 85 minutes of play with out allowing a shot to sneak past the keeper.

It wasn't until the 85 minute mark that Alonso Rodriguez scored the Tigers first goal off of a cross. Just under two minutes later Abdoulaye Cisse recorded another goal for FHSU as he gained control off a rebound that deflected off Billhardt's save attempt to put the Tigers up 2-0.

The Marauders struggled to get anything going offensively only managing to get one shot off on goal. The Tigers out shot the Marauders 25-4 in total shots and 10-1 in shots on goal. They also fired off six corner kicks in comparison to UMary's two.

The University of Mary men's soccer team will be back in action for the 2019 season!
