Bismarck, ND – The University of Mary men's soccer team welcomed #12 Fort Hays State to town today for the second part of the Marauders men's and women's soccer double header. On this day the Marauders honored two seniors, Andre Almqvist and
Alberto Asencio who have proudly represented the University throughout their time on campus. The Marauders came in to today determined to take down the nations #12 team in their final home game of the season. Fort Hays State had other plans putting up seven goals to shut the Marauders out by a score of 7-0.
With the score the Marauders fall to 3-8-1 on the season.
The Marauders had opportunities to score blasting off four shots on goal. A penalty kick by Asencio in the 70th minute of play was the Marauders best opportunity to get a goal but the goalkeeper for the Tigers was able to bat the ball away.
The Tigers, Santiago Agudelo came into the match as the nations leading scorer. Agudelo would show why he was the best goal scorer in the nation recording three goals in the first 30 minutes of play to put his season total up to 22 goals and give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. After scoring the hat trick, Agudelo would sit on the bench for the remainder of the game to rest for upcoming matches.
FHSU would begin the second period with a 3-0 lead but they were not done yet. Abdoulaye Cisse, Luis Torres, Arsenio Chamorrow and Nathan De La Hoya all would record goals in the second period to seal the deal by a score of 7-0.
The Marauders would hold a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The very aggressive match featured 12 fouls by each team including three yellow cards on the Marauders and two on the Tigers.
UMary will finish out the remainder of this season on the road. They will first head to Upper Iowa on Sunday, October 28 for a match at 1 PM. They will then have a rematch against the Fort Hays State Tigers on November 3 at 7 PM in Hays, KS.
