Fresh off a road weekend sweep that has propelled the University of Mary women's soccer team right into the hunt for postseason play, the Marauders host Winona State University and Upper Iowa University on a pair of home games. The weekend begins for the Marauders on Friday, Oct. 19, against the Warriors at 4 pm. Next the Marauders host the Peacocks at 1 pm on Sunday, Oct. 21. Both games will be played at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

REZA'S PITCH COMEBACK
Reza's Pitch is making a one-day comeback on October 21 when the UMary women's and men's soccer teams have a doubleheader at the MDU Resources Community Bowl. Starting at 11 am, fans can purchase a Reza burger, chips and a water for $10. All money raised goes to the Marauders Armada for UMary student-athlete scholarships.

UMary grabbed a pair of road wins last weekend, defeating Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls by identical 1-0 scores.
Malia Brudvik scored the winner against the Mustangs.
Megan Lowery capitalized on a corner kick for the lone goal against the Cougars in a game delayed for an hour due to snow fall. UMary's defense dominated both games, limiting SMSU to four total shots with one on frame while USF managed just nine shots with four on target. Freshman
Madisyn Waltman was in goal for both games by the Marauders.

RECORD
The Marauders are 5-6-2 overall and 4-5-2 in the Northern Sun for 9th place with 14 points…
The Warriors, winners of five straight games, are 6-5-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the NSIC for 19 points and 4th place… The Peacocks are 3-9-2 and 2-7-2 for eight points and stand 15th in the league.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Marauders play three of their last four scheduled games at home with Winona State (Oct. 19) and Upper Iowa (Oct. 21) on tap this weekend before Minnesota Duluth visits Oct. 28 in the season finale. The lone road contest is Oct. 26 at St. Cloud State.

With a huge 6-point weekend after a pair of road wins, the Marauders jumped from 13
th in the Northern Sun standings to 9
th. The top eight teams in the final standings qualify for the NSIC post-season tournament. UMary is five points out of fourth place and two points out of eighth. This weekend's opening foe Winona State is 4
th with 19 points. Concordia-St. Paul and St. Cloud State are tied for 5
th with 18 points, Minot State is 7
th with 17 points and Northern State sits eighth with 16 points. All teams have four games remaining.

BRUDVIK NAMED NSIC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Malia Brudvik was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week after scoring the lone goal in the Marauders win at Southwest Minnesota State playing on the back line of a defense that swept the weekend with a pair of 1-0 wins. Playing her most active offensive game of the season in the weekend opener, the junior defender scored her first goal in a Marauders uniform at SMSU. The first-year transfer from Peninsula College took four shots at the Mustangs net and placed three on goal, including the game-winner. The Auburn, WA, native played all 180 minutes on the weekend and keyed a Marauders defense that locked down the offenses of both SMSU and Sioux Falls. The two teams combined for 13 total shots and five shots on goal. SMSU had only four shots total in the game with only one on frame. USF managed nine shots and placed four on goal. Brudvik is the Marauders first NSIC Soccer Player of the Week this season.

Freshman goalkeeper
Madisyn Waltman posted two more clean sheets last weekend with a pair of narrow 1-0 road wins at Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls. She also had backstopped the Marauders in a scoreless draw with Minnesota Crookston, a 1-0 win at MSU Moorhead and a 2-0 victory over Wayne State College. She is 4
th in shutouts in the NSIC and 9
th in goals against average (1.11). While facing just a combined 13 shots in two games last weekend with five on goal, Waltman also staved off seven corner kicks, including six by Sioux Falls.

LOCK IT DOWN
The Marauders defense allows just 9.4 shots per game. By comparison, the UMary offense is taking 11.9 shots/game. Only twice have the Marauders allowed more than 11 shots in a game. Additionally the UMary defense has allowed more than seven shots on goal in game just once with nine games allowing five or fewer.

GOLDEN TOUCH
Caylin Cathey has the golden touch this season. The senior forward has scored six of the Marauders 15 goals this season. She also has two assists for a team-leading 14 points. Her two                                                                    Â
game-winning goals also pace the program. The All-NSIC player is sixth in the league in goals scored and her 14 points is eighth.

HELPING HAND
Sophomore
Hannah Richter has proved to be a dangerous offensive weapon for the Marauders from the back row. The defender from Bismarck, ND, has two goals and three assists. She is second on the team in goals and points (7) and leads in assists.

REINFORCEMENTS
Three Marauders limited by injury last year have returned to the pitch. A sophomore,
Patricia Martin was limited to just one game last season returned to see significant time in ten of 11 games.
Katie Berg and
Kacee Bailey, senior defenders who missed last year, also have seen action. Berg has played in eight games and started twice. Bailey has played in three contests with one start.

The Marauders feature five seniors in the starting lineup. Midfielders
Caitlin Dooley and
Megan Lowery both earned all-conference and all-region honors last season. Forwards

Caylin Cathey received All-Northern Sun honors. The fifth senior is Lisa Swärdh, who has two goals and an assist on the season.

As big as a class as the senior class is with seven players, the junior class is even bigger with eight.

A LOOK BACK
UMary finished the 2017 season with a record of 12-5-1 overall, an increase of eight wins from the previous year. UMary was fifth in the NSIC standings and defeated Minot State 1-0 on the road in the first round of the Northern Sun tournament to advance to the semifinals.
