Bismarck, ND – The University of Mary swimming and diving team rounded out homecoming week with their home opener. The Marauders battled against the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons. UMary posted many impressive times in the pool but were unable to outperform the Dragons who bested the Marauders 180-117.
Freshman
Victoria Murillo set yet another school record in the 200 free with a blistering fast time of 1:54.93. This time is good to rank Murillo 11th nationally in the event. Murillo was able to take home second place finishes in the 50 yard free with a time of 25.13 and the 100 yard free with a time of 53.47.
Abbey Zajdzinski posted meet bests in both the 100 and 200 yard butterfly. Zajdzinski posted a 58.08 in the 100 yard butterfly to win the event by three seconds. She followed that up by posting a 2:10.65 in the 200 yard fly to take the event by nearly seven seconds.
Andrea Lee dominated in the 1000 yard free, finishing 28 seconds ahead of second place with a time of 10:57.04. Lee posted a second place finish in the 500 yard free with a time of 5:25.10.
Rachel Riedel took home first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.51
Anna Jackson took second in the 200 yard breaststroke finishing with a time of 2:30.21.
Mackenzie Houston took second in the 100 yard butterfly posting a time of 1:01.33, finishing just behind Zajdzinski.
Alyssa Boese posted a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.79.
The 200 yard medley relay team of

Anna Jackson,
Abbey Zajdzinski, and
Victoria Murillo recorded a second place finish in the event with a time of 1:50.62, just .07 seconds behind taking first place.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Mady Scherwinski, Zajdzinski, Lee, and Houston came in second posting a time of 3:44.74.
"As a whole this is one of the best performance that our team has had in a dual meet which is extremely exciting to build off of with how early we are in the season." stated Marauders head coach

The Marauders will be back in action on October 19 with a Tri Dual against South Dakota State and Augustana in Brookings, SD.
