HOMECOMING WEEKEND
The University of Mary hockey team hosts the Montana State Bobcats for two games this weekend. The Marauders and Bobcats ACHA Division II teams will first go head to head on Saturday, October 13 at 7 pm. They will follow that up with a game at 2 pm on Sunday, October 14. Both games will be played at Schwan Cadillac Arena at Starion Sports Complex, the home of the Marauders.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the University of Mary took the ice was for the Boise Showcase in Boise, Idaho. The Marauders played four games over a four day period during their time in Idaho. The Marauders opened up Showcase play against Utah State and won 5-1 in dominating fashion. Next on the agenda was a rematch with Boise State and the Marauders took down the Broncos by a score of 2-0. The Marauders closed out the weekend with two more dominant wins, the first a 7-1 thrashing of Weber State before a 4-0 shutout against Texas A&M.
Â
RECORD
The Marauders boast an undefeated 12-0 record in the program's inaugural season.
Â
UNDEFEATED
The Marauders currently hold an unrivaled undefeated record. The Marauders have outscored their opponents by a score of 61-13 throughout the 12 games. The Marauders look to continue to dominate in their inaugural season and keep the winning trend going.
Â
UNHEARD OF
The Marauders have posted plenty of impressive stats this season but possibly none more impressive then what occurred during their second game against UND. The Marauders won the game 9-0 and had NINE different players score a goal. Now that's called teamwork!
Â
NOT IN OUR HOUSE
The Marauders have the luxury of having not one but two dominant forces in the net. Both of the Marauders goalies have 6-0 records.
Aaron Nelson boasts a .965 save percentage. The former NCAA Division I goalie at Minnesota State University has only allowed six goals to sneak past him thus far in the season while stopping the other 166 attempts. Nelson has two shutouts on the season.
Lance Knudson has only allowed in seven goals so far this season, stopping the other 133 attempts for a save percentage of .950. Knudson has two shutouts on the season.
Â
GOAL….GOAL…GOAL
The goal horn has become a familiar sound when the Marauders are on the ice this season. The team is averaging over five goals per game. The Marauders have had 15 players score so far this season.
Alex Flicek leads all Marauders with 13 goals.
Andrew Huber is right behind him with 12 goals. Huber has been a goalie's worst nightmare the past few games. During the Marauders first three games at the Boise Showcase, Huber fired in seven goals, including a hat trick against Weber State.
Â
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
The Marauders have 17 players who have recorded a total of 88 assists on the season.
Marshall Tschida leads all Marauders with 13 assists on the season.
Zachery Garrett is second on the team in assists posting 10.
Drew Lenertz is nearing in on double digit assists, sitting at nine on the season currently.
Â
TO BE THE BEST YOU'VE GOT TO BEAT THE BEST
The Marauders possibly have one of the hardest schedules in the country. In their first twelve games on the season, the Marauders have faced six teams who ranked in the top eleven of the ACHA Division II West region last season. Some of the Marauders notable victories against ACHA powerhouses were beating #1 in the west, Northern Arizona by a score of 3-2. The Marauders took down #2 in the west, Utah State by a score of 5-1. The Marauders also took down the third best team in the west, Northern Colorado by a score of 5-2. The Marauders certainly have positioned themselves to be a powerhouse in the ACHA.
Â
GOT FANS?
Got fans? The Marauders sure do! The Marauders have received an incredible amount of support from the community, so much so that they completely packed the house, where even standing room was hard to come by in their first home game of the season. The Marauders look to continue to use the energy from the crowd to make their home ice one of the most difficult places to play in the country.
