Carvalho counter in overtime provides Marauders victory over Saints

Aberdeen, SD– The University of Mary men's soccer team was back in action today against Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD. The match began just 24 hours after a heartbreaking loss to Dakota Wesleyan. The Marauders were determined not to let a similar situation occur again and they did just that, winning 2-1 in an overtime thriller.
 
With the win the Marauders improve to 3-5-1 on the season. 
 
The Marauders got on the board first with a goal from Blake Palmquist in the 40th minute of play. The Marauders held onto the lead all the way up until the 88th minute of play when the Saints Hilario Caro Munoz received an assist and fired the ball past the UMary keeper, Lukas Billhardt.
 
The Marauders were faced with yet another overtime match, their third in a row. The previous two ended in a tie and a loss. The Marauders were resolute to bring a win back to Bismarck and they found success. Just two and a half minutes into overtime Gabriel Carvalho fired in the game-winning goal to clinch the win for the Marauders.
 
The Marauders not only won the game but dominated in every statistical category. The Marauders recorded 16 shots on goal compared to the Saints four. The Marauders also attempted six corner kicks compared to the Saints two.
 
The Marauders look to continue their winning ways as they take to the road. The Marauders will travel to the west coast to take on Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, at 5 pm on Thursday, October 4.
