Boese, Williamson post big swims in duals at USF, Augie

SIOUX FALLS, SD – A pair of records and multiple individual wins highlighted two swimming duals for the University of Mary in Sioux Falls, SD, on Nov. 2-3. Taking on the University of Sioux Falls and Augustana on consecutive days, Alyssa Boese claimed five event wins in the pair of meets and Mary Williamson set two school marks against USF. 
 
"I'm very happy with how we swam at Augustana after coming off of our meet ythe day before with USF," said Marauders head coach Allan McCallum. "I thought the team swam aggressively and that we had some improvements from our meet two weeks ago. I'm very encouraged about the progress we are making from meet to meet."
 
The Marauders were outscored 165-93 by the Cougars on Thursday and 163-99 by Augustana on Friday.

Boese picked up the Marauders first win of the meet in the 100 yard backstroke. The sophomore captured the event in 1:00.10, just .19 seconds ahead of the runner-up. 
 
Boese's win in the 200 yard butterfly was even tighter. The Billings, MT, native trailed after 150 yards and closed out the race in spectacular fashion, edging Gigi Bario by .02 seconds as Boese registered a time of 2:12.52. 
 
Williamson and Boese claimed first and second in the 400 yard individual medley. Williamson finished in 4:42.16 to 4:48.16 for Boese. 
 
The Marauders other win against the Cougars came in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Mackenzie Houston Kate Murphy, Abbey Zajdzinzki and Williamson combined to swim the event in 3:49.98.
 
Williamson established a school mark in the 1,650. The freshman placed second in the event with a clocking of 18:02.31. Additionally her 1,000 yard split in the event is a new team best. Williamson later was the runner-up in the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:36.76.
 
Houston also found herself the runner-up in both the 100 butterfly (1:00.70) and the 100 yard freestyle (55.87 seconds).

Boese was a triple winner for the Marauders in their second of three straight meets in South Dakota. For the second straight meet, Boese captured the Marauders first win of the day, claiming the 100 yard backstroke with a clocking of 1:00.74. After a narrow win in the USF meet, Boese finished in front by a comfortable 1.77 seconds.
 
Continuing her strong weekend in the backstroke, Boese also claimed the 200 (2:13.71). The sophomore picked up her third win of the meet in the by swimming the 200 individual medley in 2:15.22.
 
Zajdzinski, a freshman, snared her first individual event win in the 200 yard butterfly with a clocking of 2:15.30. She followed up by also claiming first in the 100 yard butterfly with a swim of 59.75 seconds.
 
The Marauder continue their swing through South Dakota with a meet at Northern State University on Saturday, Nov. 4.
