Marauders blow out Flames 76-46

OMAHA, NE – The University of Mary women's basketball team dominated the paint and rolled to a 76-46 road win at the College of St. Mary. Cassie Askvig and Gabbie Bohl combined for 33 points to lead the Marauders to their first win of the season.

Playing their third game in three days, the Marauders jumped out to a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Leading 13-12, Bohl hit a layup off a feed from Askvig. Askvig then hit treys on the Marauders next two possessions to close out the opening stanza.

UMary went into halftime leading 39-21 after Macy Williams hit a trey with two seconds left before intermission.

After failing to hold late leads the previous two games in a pair of tough losses at the Central Region Challenge, the Marauders made sure that wouldn't be an issue against the Flames as UMary built its lead to as many as 33 points.

Askvig led UMary with 18 points. She hit 4-of-8 trey attempts, grabbed six rebounds and distributed four assists. Bohl made 6-of-8 field goal attempts and snared nine boards.

Dani Williams scored nine points, hit two treys and dished four assists. Jordan Jossart came off the bench to hit two 3-pointers and score six points. Overall 13 players scored for the Marauders.

Miranda Acuna and Amy Talavou led the Flames with 11 points each.

The Marauders next face Dickinson State University on Nov. 18 at 4 pm in the Marauders home opener.
