BISMARCK, ND – Taking on another nationally ranked team, University of Mary senior
Lauren Randall cracked a game-high 16 kills but her efforts weren't enough to overcome the balanced attack of #13 Wayne State College. The fourth straight UMary opponent who is receiving attention in national polls, the visiting Wildcats dispatched the Marauders 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-17).
An outside hitter from Burnsville, MN, Randall cracked double digits in kills for the fourth straight match and 13
th time in 15 matches this season. She hit a team-high .270, added five digs and had two block assists.
Natalia Cruz added six kills and nine digs for UMary and
Morgan Schnabel had five kills.
Geovana Almeida posted a game-high 11 digs. Back in the lineup after missing a couple games,
Amanda Lopes dished 30 assists and had three aces.
The Wildcats (11-6 overall / 5-3 Northern Sun) posted a .235 attack percentage on the game to a .092 mark for the Marauders (5-12 / 1-7). UMary started strong with a .240 mark in the opening set before slipping the next two games.
Erin Gross had 10 kills for Wayne State. Megan Gerhardt assisted on 30 of the Wildcats 32 kills.
The Marauders close out their four-game home stand when #17 Augustana visits the McDowell Activity Center on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2 pm.
