Bismarck, N.D. - The University of Mary (2-0-0) used two goals from
Jordan Pearce in its home-opener to beat South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (0-1-0 ) 3-2 on Sunday, Sept. 5 at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

Pearce, a senior from Doncaster, England, received a pass from teammate
Aaron Brennan and found the right side of the net to give the Marauders an early 1-0 lead in the first minute of play.

Later in the first period, Brennan weaved his way through Hardrocker defenders to score from 10 yards out in the 18-minute to give UMary the 2-0 lead. The senior forward finished the game with one goal and one assist.

The final goal of the first period came from Pearce at the 18-minute mark. The forward received the pass from sophomore midfielder Guilherme da Silva to score his second goal of the season and match from five yards out.

But in the 46-minute of the second period SDSMT started its comeback after Andreas Skau's corner kick found Noah McKenzie for an upper left corner goal.

The Hardrockers struck again in the 79-minute when Justin Barkow found Ian Debois for SDSMT's second goal of the match as the Hardrockers trailed 3-2.

But UMary held its own in the final minutes of the match to secure its second win of the 2016 season.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Ludvig Rhodin earned his second win of the season in the net after recording eight saves. Kyle Daledovich was given the loss for the Hardrockers, his first of the season. Â

The Marauders will play Presentation College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
