Marauders Score Five Goals in Second Period to Win Third Staright

Bismarck, N.D. - The University of Mary scored five goals in the second period to defeat Presentation College 6-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the MDU Community Resources Bowl.
 
Senior forward Jordan Pearce scored his third and fourth goals of the season for the Marauders early in the second period.
 
Pearce received a pass from junior forward Aaron Brennan and found the net from 10 yards out in the 49th-minute. In the 66th-minute Mitch Carter found Pearce all only with one man to beat from 15 yards out and scored his second goal of the match.
 
Three UMary (3-0-0) student-athletes scored their first goals of the 2016 season against the Saints (0-5-0) in front of about 110 fans.
 
Brennan found freshman Marc Carreras Hernadez in the middle of a few defenders but Carreras Hernadez was able to handle the ball and score from a few yards out.
 
It was Brennan's second assist of the game and his third of the season.
 
In the 75th-minute freshman Will Hall scored UMary's fifth goal of the match after receiving the pass from teammate Blaise Osborne.
 
Five minutes later in the 80th-minute, Osborne, a freshman forward scored his first goal of his career off a pass from Varun Doshi. Osborne received the pass from the right side in front of the net and kicked it into the top left corner of the net for the goal.

Guilherme Zogbi da Silva scored the first goal in the first period as the Marauders led just 1-0 heading into halftime. It was his second goal of the season.
 
UMary had 25 shots of goal while the Saints finished with five.
 
Sophomore goal keeper Ludvig Rhodin earned his third win of the season after giving up no goals and saving three shots.
 
Matt Richardson gave up five goals for PC but Brandt McCall was given the loss after replacing Richardson late in the second period. McCall is now 0-2 on the season.
 
Up next for the Marauders is the 2016 Rimrock Classic in Billings, Mont., which will take place this weekend.
 
UMary's first match is at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 against South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
