Billings, Mont. - After starting the 2016 on a four-match winning streak, the University of Mary men's soccer team lost its first match of the 2016 to Dixie State 5-0 on Sunday, Sept. 11 in Billings, Mont.

The Marauders (4-1-0) struggled to get looks on goal as the Trailblazers (1-3-0) out shot UMary 24-8 in the match. Thirteen of those were shots on goal for DSU.

UMary trailed 2-0 heading into halftime after goals from Christian Hall and Jandir Porta.

Coming out of the break, the Marauders were unable to get on the scoreboard and the Trailblazers tagged on three more goals.

In the 54th-minute Angel Estrada scored his first goal of the season after beating two defenders from the left side to give DSU the 3-0 lead.

Michael Cardenas scored the fourth goal of the match in the 65th-minute and in the 66th-minute Porta scored his second goal of the match to secure the Trailblazer victory. All five DSU goals were scored by freshmen.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Ludvig Rhodin (4-1-0) was given the loss but he did record eight saves.

The Marauders finished with one win and one loss in the Third Annual Rimrock Classic.

After a two-match road trip the Marauders will head back home to play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14 against Rocky Mountain College at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
