FAYETTE, Iowa - Tate Barnhardt and Dane Fischer won their matches but the University of Mary lost its final five matches as Northern Sun opponent No.5 Upper Iowa handed the Marauders its second straight dual loss, 36-9 Sunday, Dec. 4.

Barnhardt (133) beat UIU's Chase Seaney in the second match of the dual by fall and two matches later Fischer (157) beat Zak Benitz by a sudden victory 8-6 but the Marauders were unable to get any other match wins after the first five matches.

Barnhardt improves his season record to 9-6 and with Fischer's upset win over the No. 8 ranked wrestler, he recorded his fifth win of the 2016-17 season.

The Peacocks claimed advantages in takedowns, 17-9 and reversals, 5-3.

The Marauders (0-2, 0-1 NSIC) will take 12 days off before hosting Minot State on Friday, Dec. 16 in the Santa Claus Dual.

MOORHEAD, Minn. - While most of the team was at the Upper Iowa dual, three Univeristy of Mary wrestlers made an appearance at the Dragon Open Sunday, Dec. 2.
 
Donald Leuer (157) and Rudy Guillen (157) wrestled unattached for the Marauders but both placed respectively in their weight classes.
 
Guillen won all four of his matches and took first place in his 157 weight class. He recorded 15 team points and beat North Dakota State's Nick Mergen by an 8-7 decision to make it to the first place match. Guillen then won by an 10-3 decision over Brett Bradford of Rochester Community College.
 
Leuer took sixth place in his weight class and won three of his six matches. He first took down Jamestown's Justin Folsom in a 8-3 decision but fell to his teammate, Guillen by an 8-3 decision in the quarterfinal round.
 
Leuer bounced backed and won his next two consolation round matches. He beat Agustus Siaway of Ridgewater College by a fall (4:17) and won by a 7-6 decision of his other teammate who was at the tournament, Chris Leatherman.
 
In the consolation semifinals, Leuer lost an 11-8 decision to Minnesota State University Moorhead's Isaac Novacek and eventually lost the fifth place match to St. John's University Jerod Novak by a 7-5 decision.
 
Leatherman (157) wrestled attached but didn't place for the Marauders, however, he did record five team points in the tournament.
 
In the consolation second round, Leatherman won by fall over Erik Loepp of MSUM after receiving a bye in the first round of the consolation bracket.
