West Fargo, N.D. - The University of Mary wrestling team lost its final three matches as Concordia College won seven individual matches and eventually the dual, 26-9 Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Marauders first dual of the 2016-17 season.

Three Marauder student-athletes won their matches but it wasn't enough as the Cobbers recorded its second win of the season and have now won the last six duals against Mary.

Mary took a 6-4 after Tate Barnhardt (133) and Reed Cronin (141) won decisions but the Cobbers won the next three matches to pull ahead for good as the Marauders surrender six of the final seven matches in the dual.

Noah Huff (149) lost to Blane Tschida by a 22-6 technical fall and Dane Fischer (157) was beat by Nick Gravdahl by a major decision, as the Cobbers took a late 13-6 lead.

Mary's Paul Michaelson (165) lost in a 7-5 sudden victory to Concordia College's Jake Johnson before Austin Eichmann (174) beat Parker Jackson by a 7-3 decision.

After Eichman's win, the Marauders trailed 16-9 and couldn't collect a win in the final three matches to gain anymore team points.

Ricky Briggs (184) and Jacob Briggs (197) of Concordia College beat Jonathan Pelach and Jacob Green by decisions to pull ahead for good, 23-9.

In the final match of the dual, Dominic Tudor (285) lost in a 3-0 decision to Justice Davis of Concordia College.

The Marauders will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 4 when the team splits into two groups as one part of the team will travel to the Dragon Open and the other part of the team will head to a dual against Upper Iowa.
