MOORHEAD, MN – Capturing nine of 12 events, the University of Mary sank Concordia College 137-75 in a non-conference swimming.
Alyssa Boese,
Elizabeth Moriarty and
Kate Murphy all posted a pair of individual wins for the Marauders before combining forces to capture the final relay of the day.
"Overall we had a great meet today," said head coach
Allan McCallum. "I am very happy where we are at right now. The team is really training well and we continue to improve each meet. We mixed up our lineup and swam some different events than we normally do, and it was very encouraging seeing how well everyone swam in the different events."
Murphy won the 1650 yard freestyle in the opening individual event of the day, posting a time of 18:44.67 to win the grueling event ahead of teammate
Rachel Riedel. Her time is currently the 6
th-best mark in the Northern Sun. The freshman from Jefferson City, MT, later returned to take the 100 yard freestyle in 57.53.
Moriarty came out on top of the 200 yard freestyle after clocking in at 2:04.41. The Brookings, SD, native then swam a time of 1:02.34 to win the 100 yard butterfly.
Boese started strong with a win in the 200 yard individual medley, capturing the event by nearly nine seconds after finishing in 2:17.72. The freshman from Billings, MT, then won the 100 yard backstroke in 1:02.99.
Boese, Murphy and Moriarty collaborated with
Karyssa Nelson to win the 400 yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:50.71.
Also winning an individual event for Mary was
Sam Putti, who took the 50 yard freestyle in 27.17.
The Marauders started the day with a win in the 200 yard medley relay by Nelson. Putti,
Meghan Mokhtary and
Sam Behm.
The Marauders improve to 3-5 this season.
Mary next competes at the Rochester Invitational on Dec. 2-4.
