Three Second Half Goals Propels OKBU to a 4-3 Victory over the Marauders

SHAWNEE, Okla. - Jordan Pearce netted two goals for the University of Mary but Oklahoma Baptist scored three second half goals to take a 4-3 victory over the Marauders on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Pearce scored Mary's first goal of the match in the 29th-minute from 20-yards out after receiving a pass from teammate Jakob Olsson. Three minutes later Marc Carreras found the net after passing two OKBU defenders and the Marauders took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

However, the Bison recorded 14 shots in the second half and scored the game winning goal in the 80th-minute of the match off a Jared Hill goal. OKBU took a late 3-2 lead in the match and two minutes later that lead expanded off a Vicente Castillo score and the Bison led 4-2 late in the match.

Pearce had a nice break away and one-on-one match against Bison goalkeeper Colin Spencer in the 84th-minute to score Mary's third goal of the match but the Marauders weren't able to score anything else in the remaining minutes.

OKBU outshot the Marauders 20-14 and finished with 10 shots on goal compared to Mary's six shots.

Carreras finished with five shots for the Blue & Orange and Andre Almqvist added four shots of his own. Olsson and Aaron Brennan collected the two assists for the Marauders as the visiting team won the corner kicks battle 5-2.

Spencer earned the victory between the posts for the Bison as Ludvig Rhodin was given the loss for the Marauders.

Rhodin finished with six saves and gave up four goals in the match as he fell to 6-8-0 on the year.

The Marauders will lace up the boots next on Monday, Oct. 31 when they travel to Bethany, Okla., to take on Southern Nazarene at 12 p.m.
