HAYS, KAN. - The University of Mary (6-6-0) had another chance to take down No. 25 Fort Hays State but suffered a 3-0 loss against the Tigers Saturday, Oct. 15.
FHSU (8-3-1) outshot Mary 15-10 and received two goals in the first half to secure the victory.
In the 11th-minute Mauricio Castorino found the net from the middle of the box to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.
Dylan Kintner scored his second goal of the season after receiving a pass from teammate Caesar Jones in the 44th-minute.
Eighteen minutes later Derick Gonzalez beat sophomore goalkeeper
Ludvig Rhodin to the right of the net for the score to give the Tigers a 3-0 led that eventually turned into the win.
Rhodin was given the loss, making his record 6-6-0 on the year and saved three Tiger shots.
FHSU goalkeeper Alex Rodela played 90 minutes, finished with five saves and recorded the victory, his third of the season.
Jordan Pearce and
Mitch Carter finished with three shots each for the Blue & Orange but couldn't turn Mary's five shots on goal into points.
The Marauders drop to 6-6-0 on the year and will head to Jamestown, N.D., for a battle against the University of Jamestown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
