The University of Mary (8-10, 3-6 NSIC) is scheduled to compete against Minnesota Crookston (6-11, 2-7 NSIC) at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, and at Bemidji State (5-13, 1-8 NSIC) at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 … The Marauders are 1-5 in road matches … The Golden Eagles are 1-2 at home this season while BSU is 1-3.
 
UP NEXT: Mary continues on the Northern Sun road at Minot State on Tuesday, Oct. 18, before returning home to host Minnesota State at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 and Concordia - St. Paul at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the McDowell Activity Center.
 
THE SERIES: Mary trails in the series with the Golden Eagles 10-6 in the Division II era but the Marauders have won the last two matches … Mary leads the series with BSU 9-7 and have won the last two in straight sets.
 
MARAUDERS MEMOS: Junior outside hitter Lauren Randall leads the Marauders with 282 kills, averaging 4.78 kills per set. The Burnsville, Minn., native is second in the NSIC for total kills and average kills per set. She also is fourth in the nation for kills per set. Randall has seven double-doubles and has hit the 30 kill mark twice this season … Senior middle hitter is first on the team with a .307 hitting percentage. She averages 1.83 kills per set and has recorded 110 kills this season … Senior setter Janell Finkbeiner has tallied up 580 assists this season and has recorded over 30-plus assists in 11 matches this year … Senior libero Alex Brown has a team-high 272 digs and is averaging just over four digs a set. Brown ranks sixth in the NSIC for total digs but 10th in digs per set … Senior middle hitter Elizabeth Garcia has 37 total digs this season and averages 0.66 per set … As a team Mary ranks 12th in hitting percentage (.183), 14th in opponent hitting percentage (.226), seventh in assists (12.38), eighth in kills (13.02), 16th in blocks (1.28), third in service aces (1.72) and 10th in digs (14.92).
 
MARY AGAINST TOP 25 TEAMS: The Marauders have faced seven ranked teams this season. Unfortunately, the Blue & Orange have lost all seven of those matches. The Marauders have won just one set out of the 22 sets played against ranked teams this year.
 
MARY IN THE NSIC: After suffering two two-match losing streaks and one five-match losing streak, the Marauders aren't out of postseason just yet. Mary is currently 12th in the NSIC but is tied with three other schools with a 3-6 conference record. Wayne State and Sioux Falls are the next two teams ahead of the Marauders with a 5-4 conference record.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: UMC is hitting .170 as a team and average 15.1 kills per set. Redshirt junior outside hitter Maggie Perrel is averaging 3.25 kills per set this season and teammates Kassi Green and Kelci Green are averaging 2.30 kills per set each. Senior setter Sierra Trost is averaging 9.75 assists per set and 2.57 digs per set. Redshirt freshman Ali Schueler leads the team defensively with 3.93 digs per set this season. Five of UMC's 11 losses have come from ranked teams as the Golden Eagles are currently on a four-match losing streak.
 
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS: BSU has lost its last nine matches in a row and have been shutout seven times in those nine matches. The Beavers are led by Jessica Yost and Amanda Tronick. Yost leads the team with 3.75 kills per set, which is fifth best in the NSIC. Tronick averages 3.30 kills per set and that's good enough for ninth in the conference. Defensively sophomore Heather Fletcher leads BSU with 0.98 blocks per set.
