BISMARCK, N.D. – The lineup for the first University of Mary Marauders Football Spring Game People's Choice Competition is set. Twenty-one local eateries will battle to earn the title of the people's choice champion before the Marauders battle on the gridiron for spots in the fall's starting lineup.
A free event open to the public, the Marauders Spring Game People's Choice Competition combines complimentary cuisine from local restaurants, a youth sports clinic and the U-Mary spring football game on Saturday, April 18.
The People's Choice Competition takes place at the MDU Resources Community Bowl starting at 11:30 a.m. The twenty-one vendors will provide food samples free of charge until 12:45 p.m. After the public enjoys tastes from a variety of restaurants, they will then vote for their favorite. After the votes are tabulated, the winning vendor will be announced at halftime of the spring game.
Local restaurants and businesses competing in the People's Choice Competition are Peacock Alley, Bruno's Pizza, Paradiso, Bread Poets, Orange Leaf, The Bistro, DJ's BBQ, Erbert and Gerbert's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Domino's, Tutti Frutti, Boneshaker Coffee Company, Jimmy John's, Bearscat Bakehouse, Dunn Brothers Coffee, Taco Del Mar, The Walrus, Cashwise Catering, Oahu, Lady J's Catering and Eide Ford Lincoln.
Also the National Guard will provide complimentary water, Gatorade and soda.
Children are invited to attend a free sports clinic hosted by Marauders student-athletes while the food tasting is happening. U-Mary men's and women's soccer, football, volleyball, wrestling, and men's and women's basketball teams will all be on hand to conduct the clinics for kids.
The Marauders Orange vs. White spring football game kicks off at 1 p.m. Divided into two teams, the squad concludes their spring drills at 2 p.m.
Leading up to the Spring Game is a Marauders Coaches Luncheon on Friday, April 17, at the Elks. Open to all Marauders fans, U-Mary football coach
Josh Kotelnicki will be one of the featured speakers. Lunch starts serving at 11:45 a.m. with the program to begin at 12:10 p.m. The cost of the lunch is $5.
