LAST WEEK
For the second straight week the Marauders fought into the final minute of play in a 21-14 loss at Northern State University… The Jimmies dropped a 31-23 decision at home to Concordia-St. Paul.

MARAUDERS-JIMMIES HISTORY LESSON
  • This will be the 21st meeting between the two programs
  • The Marauders hold a 17-3 edge in the series
  • UMary won the last three meetings
  • The series began in 1988 with the visiting Jimmies claiming a 30-20 win in the first season of Marauders football
  • UMary rebounded to claim a 38-14 the following season (1989) to start an 8-game winning streak over Jamestown
  • The Marauders are 8-1 at home against the Jimmies, winning eight straight
  • UMary last hosted the Jimmies was a Week 0 meeting in 2024 as the Jimmies were transitioning to NCAA Division II. UMary earned a 23-6 win as Justus Breston returned two interceptions for touchdowns to earn national player of the week honors.
LAST UM-UJ MEETING | The Marauders rolled over the Jimmies 44-22 in UMary's first game at Jamestown since 2004. UMary scored the first 34 points of the game and posted 32 first downs and 523 total yards while allowing 279 yards. Ryan Blair passed for 341 yards and three TDs to earn NSIC player of the week honors. Karsyn Jablonski scored two TDs and caught nine passes for 103 yards. Xavier Brackenridge ran for 119 yards and one TD.

OLD ACQUAINTANCES
Both UMary and Jamestown are former competitors in the North Dakota College Athletic Association (NDCAC) and the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC-10). Until 2025, the Marauders and the Jimmies have not faced each other in a conference game since 2004 as Jamestown was in the process to moving to NCAA D2 and the NSIC when the two teams met in 2024. This is the second season the Jimmies are competing in the NSIC.

WEEK 5 RECAP| Northern State 21 UMary 14
For a second straight week, the University of Mary football team needed a score in the closing seconds. After scoring on an untimed play with no time remaining on the clock a week ago to force overtime, the Marauders found themselves in a similar situation at Northern State University. Needing to drive 79 yards to score the equalizer with just 2:10 to play, the visiting Marauders gained 46 before a Wolves interception sealed a 21-14 homecoming win for Northern State.

Fighting from behind from the opening kickoff, the Marauders defense kept UMary within striking distance. The Marauders limited the Wolves to 29 passing yards, the 3rd-fewest yards UMary has allowed in a Northern Sun contest. Northern State completed just 8-of-18 passes in the game as UMary applied tight coverage with strong pressure. For the game UMary held Northern State to 14 first downs and 255 total yards of offense.

UMary fell behind immediately when Northern State returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown. The Wolves lead increased to 14-0 on a 1-yard Hank Kraft run at 8:49 of the second quarter. The Marauders immediately when Cody Emmanuel caught a 41-yard  touchdown pass from Ryan Blair to cap a 75-yrd scoring drive, sending the Marauders into intermission down 14-7.

Another Kraft touchdown, this time on a 2-yard run at 4:48 of the third quarter, looked to clinch the game for the Wolves. Instead the Marauders kept battling. Taking over at their own 16-yard line halfway through the fourth period, the Marauders quickly drove the field and scored when Blair found Karsyn Jablonski in the end zone from 37 yards out, closing the gap to 21-14 with 4:57 remaining.

The Marauders defense gave the UMary offense one more chance, forcing the Wolves into a 38-yard field goal that misfired with 2:10 to play. Keyed by a 16-yard catch by Jaquawn Brackenridge, UMary drove from its 21-yard line to the NSU 33 before the Marauders hopes faded with 33 seconds to play.

Gameday Numbers – Marauders vs. Wolves
  • The Marauders finished the game with 387 yards of offense, with 316 coming through the air.
  • Blair completed 27-of-34 passes for 309 yards and two scores
  • Jablonski hauled in 13 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. The 13 catches is a career-best for the senior who crossed 100 yards receiving for the second straight week and the seventh time in his career.
  • Desmond Duffy added five catches for 43 yards.
  • Cameron Brusven led the Marauders defense with 13 tackles, including 10 solo stops and one tackle for loss
  • Christopher Federico added seven tackles and broke up a pass

DO NOT LEAVE EARLY
The last two Marauders games have been decided in the last minute of play. Against Sioux Falls, UMary overcame a 31-point deficit to force overtime on a field goal that came on an untimed play at the end of regulation. The next week at Northern State, UMary held the ball in the final minute of play with a chance to tie the game.

  • The Marauders rank #2 in the NSIC in total defense, allowing 304.2 yards/game
  • UMary ranks first in the NSIC in fewest passing yards allowed at 131.8
  • Opponents gain 16.8 first downs/game
  • Opponents were held to under 300 yards in three of five games with a fourth opponent topping out at 307

  • Twice opponents have rushed for under 100 yards

SACK CITY

One of the nation's leading tacklers, the Henderson, NV, linebacker now looks to pass Justin Russetti (221), Scott Naasz (223), Shawn Mellan (223), Mike Jaskowski (227) and Marcus Broome (235) as he moves into the Marauders top 10 all-time for tackles.

KA-BOOM
Junior punter/running back Carter Henke is off to a booming start to the season. Through five games he is averaging 51.1 yards/punt to lead the NSIC. Henke would also lead NCAA Division II but no longer has enough attempts (needs 3.6 punts/game to be listed so three short). Eight of his 14 punts travelled over 50 yards with a long of 68. Four punts have been downed inside the 20 yard line. Additionally the Bismarck, ND, native has carried the ball three times and has a tackle.

2026 NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • MARAUDERS SET TEAM DEFENSIVE RECORDS IN WIN AT CSP The Marauders defense set a pair of Northern Sun team records in the UMary 13-10 win at Concordia-St. Paul.
    • 142 yards allowed - UMary held CSP to 142 yards of offense (63 yards rushing, 79 yards passing). The previous record was 146 yards against the University of Minnesota Crookston in 2007.
    • 9 first downs allowed – UMary limited CSP to nine first downs to tie the NSIC program record (limited UMC to nine first downs in 2008 and 2010).

  • VEGAS GEORGE NAMED NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Twice ending 4th quarter drives with sacks, University of Mary defensive lineman Vegas George earned Northern Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the Marauders 13-10 road win over Concordia-St. Paul. George posted two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss in a record performance for the Marauders defense. The Bismarck, ND, native also totaled seven tackles and forced a fumble. Both sacks by George came in the fourth quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter with the game tied 10-10, George sacked the Golden Bears quarterback and forced a fumble, leading to a CSP punt and a game-winning drive for the UMary offense. With UMary preserving a 13-10 lead and CSP facing a 4th-and-5 with 1:55 to play, George blew past all blockers for his second sack to end both the Golden Bears possession and hopes for victory.
  • HENKE NAMED THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL NETWORK D-2 SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK Combining both explosive distance and deft touch in a dazzling season debut, University of Mary punter Carter Henke is The College Football Network D-2 Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Marauders 2026 Week 0 victory. Henke placed the Rocky Mountain College offense in a precarious position all game, downing three of his five punts inside the three yard line. He averaged 62.6 yards per punt and all five punts covered more than 50 yards (65, 68, 65, 63, 52). The Bismack, ND, native's first two punts of the day were downed at the Battlin' Bears 1 and 3 yard lines, respectively, forcing RMC to start its first two drives in the shadow of its own goal line. His last effort of the day was placed at the 2 yard line as the Marauders looked to preserve their lead in the 23-10 win. Henke ranks first in NCAA Division II in punting average.
  • BIERY NAMED NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Creating chaos that led directly to two University of Mary touchdowns in a season-opening win, senior Travis Biery is the Northern Sun Football Defensive Player of the Week. The defensive lineman from Sauk Rapids, MN, had two sacks, forced a fumble and made six tackles in the Marauders 23-10 win over Rocky Mountain College. Both of Biery's sacks came on third down plays. His first sack halted the Battlin' Bears opening drive of the second half as he pulled the quarterback down at the visitor's 20. A 4-yard punt followed. The Marauders took advantage of the excellent field position to score their second touchdown, extending UMary's lead to 17-3. Late in the third quarter, Biery forced a fumble with a sack at the RMC 22. UMary's Christopher Federico recovered the fumble and returned the ball to the RMC 14. Two plays later, the Marauders scored on the first play of the fourth quarter to claim a 23-10 advantage.
  • JABLONSKI NAMED UMARY'S NSIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER TO WATCH Senior WR Karsyn Jablonski is the Marauders NSIC Offensive Player to Watch for 2026. The Mandan, ND, native was one of the top receivers in the NSIC last season with 50 catches for 706 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 14.1 yards per catch and 5.0 receptions per game for a UMary team that ranked 10th in NCAA Division II in passing yards/game. Jablonski ranked 5th in the NSIC in touchdown catches, 8th in receptions and 9th in receiving yards… Cracking the century mark four times last season, Jablonski set a Marauders NCAA-era record for longest receiving touchdown with a 97 yard jaunt against Winona State University in the home finale. He finished with a career-best 186 yards receiving against the Warriors and caught two TDs… With 90 catches for 1,293 yards and 10 touchdowns, Jablonski has a chance to finish his career in the top ten of all three categories
  • FEDERICO NAMED UMARY'S NSIC DEFENSIVE PLAYER TO WATCH The Marauders leader in tackles each of the last two seasons, Christopher Federico has also ranked among the top tacklers in the NSIC. In 2025, the UMary linebacker made 73 stops, including 53 solo tackles. The native of Henderson, NV, recorded seven tackles for loss with 2.5 sacks. He also intercepted a pass and broke up two others. Federico earned NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in a 40-9 UMary win at Southwest Minnesota State University after making 3.5 tackles for loss, among his 11 tackles on the day. For the 2025 season Federico ranked fifth in the NSIC for solo tackles and tackles per game (7.3).
