THIS WEEKENDThe University of Mary Marauders women's soccer team begins a four-game home stand when the St. Cloud State University Huskies and the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs visit on Family and Senior Recognition Weekend. The Marauders open the weekend against the Huskies on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. Next the Marauders host the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18. Both games will be played at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

THE RECORDSThe Marauders are 1-9-1 on the season, including a mark of 1-8 for three points in Northern Sun contests (tied for 15th in NSIC)... St. Cloud State is 6-3-2 overall and is fifth in the NSIC with a 5-2-2 record and 17 points… Minnesota Duluth is 4-7-1 overall and is 10
th in the NSIC at 3-5-1 and 10 points.

LAST WEEKU-Mary dropped a pair of road games, 3-1 against Concordia – St. Paul and 3-0 at #6 Minnesota State… The Golden Bears scored in the 5
th minute to take an early lead before
Michelle McGeary tied the game for the Marauders with her first goal of the season in the 23
rd minute. Concordia then followed with goals in the 27
th and 43
rd minutes to end a 13-game winless streak against U-Mary. Both teams generated 19 shots in the outing… Facing its toughest opponent of the season, the Marauders fell behind early and never could catch up against the 6
th ranked Mavericks. Minnesota State scored in the 6
th minute. Following a couple Marauders offensive opportunities, the Mavericks doubled their lead in the 39
th minute. MSU tagged on a goal with six minutes left to seal the game…. St. Cloud State split at home, losing to NSIC co-leader Augustana 3-1 before rebounding with a 3-0 win over Wayne State College… Minnesota Duluth also split a pair of home games, defeating Wayne State 1-0 before suffering a 1-0 loss to Augustana.

TOP 5A difficult stretch continues for the Marauders. St. Cloud State is the fourth straight U-Mary opponent who was in the top five of the Northern Sun standings at game time. The previous three were Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State.

SENIORSFive Marauders seniors will be honored this weekend:
Mykala Benjamin (Kent, Wash.),
Emily Christensen (Minot, N.D.),
Destiny Glaser (Bismarck, N.D.),
Jacquelyn Smith (Lewiston, Idaho), and
Bailey Wenz (Gillette, Wyo.). Benjamin, Christensen, Glaser and Smith all arrived at U-Mary in fall 2012, head coach
Sarah Cook's first season with the Marauders. Wenz, a transfer from Western Nebraska, joined the squad in 2013. All five have played key roles for the Marauders this season. Benjamin, Christensen, and Smith have started all 11 games this season on defense while Glaser, a midfielder/defender, has played all 11 and started five. Wenz has started nine games in goal.

HOME SWEET HOMEThe Marauders play five of their last six games of the season at home. The lone remaining road game is a trip to Northern State.

HISTORYThe Marauders are 4-6 all-time against the Huskies. U-Mary won 2-1 last season at SCSU when
Zara O'Hagan scored twice on penalty kicks, the second coming in the second overtime in the 102
nd minute… The Marauders are 3-8-1 all-time vs. the Bulldogs. UMD won last year 3-0 in Duluth, Minn. Â
