Box Score BISMARCK, N.D. – After three non-conference contests, the intensity on the field ratcheted up several levels tonight as the University of Mary women's soccer team opened Northern Sun conference play with a hard-fought scoreless draw against instate rival Minot State University.
Both teams had scoring opportunities but each goalkeeper produced a clean sheet at the end of the game. U-Mary's
Shelby Buttron posted four saves and Gemma Biasetto of Minot State had six.
Both teams are now 1-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the NSIC.
The Marauders had the run of play in the opening half, taking five shots to two for the Beavers and earning all six of the corner kicks.
After intermission, the Beavers attack bounced back and held a 9-7 edge in shots taken.
For the game, U-Mary held a slight 12-11 advantage in shots taken and a massive 12-3 edge in corners.
Andrea Muller paced the Marauders attack with four shots. Both
Loren Sellers and
Michelle McGeary each had two shots on goal.
The Marauders continue their eight-game home stand this weekend when U-Mary hosts Bemidji State University on Saturday, Sept. 20.
