Larson Sets Career High with 31 Points, but Marauders Fall to Dragons 87-75

MOORHEAD, Minn. - Hannah Larson lit up the scoreboard for a career high 31 points, Brittney Dietz bounced back with 15 points of her own, and Dani Williams provided a spark off the bench, but the University of Mary Women's Basketball team fell to the Minnesota State University-Moorhead Dragons 87-75 in a hard fought Northern Sun matchup.

Both teams fought back and forth early in the first half, but the Marauders held the advantage at the first media timeout with a 12-7 lead over the Dragons. U-Mary kept the pressure up and held a 19-13 lead after the second media timeout, but the Dragons came roaring back and fired off a 16-2 run to swing momentum back into their favor with a 29-21 lead at 2:46 left in the half. The Marauders tried to jump back into the game and got as close as 30-25, but they went into halftime down 35-27.

The Marauders kept the game interesting in the second half, but they couldn't get over the hump as they couldn't get closer than 48-45 with 13:11 left in the game. The Dragons couldn't shake the Marauders as they struggled to extend their lead past five points, but that was all they needed as the Marauders lost 87-75.

Larson finished the game with 31 points and eight rebounds in 33 minutes played. She also added three blocks and shot 13-for-18 from the floor, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.

Dietz netted 15 points of her own along with three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 35 minutes of action.

Dani Williams provided 18 points off the bench for U-Mary off 7-for-11 shooting, including a 4-for-6 performance from three-point range. She also added four rebounds in her 32 minutes played.

Gabby Wilkinson also got billed off the bench for the Marauders, she added six points, four rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes of action.

The Marauders (3-6, 1-2 NSIC) return home next week when they host Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday, Dec. 12, and University of Sioux Falls on Saturday, Dec. 13 in the McDowell Activity Center.
