Marauders Take Game Two Against the Blazers 94-46

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gabby Wilkinson made a statement today in the second of the Marauders' three games over the weekend as she set a personal best in points scored with 21 and the University of Mary women's basketball team defeated the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 94-46.

The Marauders started off strong again as they scored the first 13 points of the game before the Blazers could finally register their first bucket.  U-Mary displayed some variation to their offensive and defensive looks and they methodically built a 27-6 lead midway through the first half.

The Marauders showed off good ball movement with some dribble drive attacks to open up some space on the floor and give their shooters room to work with. It seemed to pay off as U-Mary went into half up 51-18 over the Blazers.

The Marauders started off the second half similar to the first as they went on a 12-2 run to open up the half, giving U-Mary a 63-20 lead. They kept the pressure on the Blazers and eventually held a 77-26 lead over Canadian Mennonite midway through the second half. The Marauders continued their ball movement and kept the Blazers off balance on the defensive side of the floor and U-Mary cruised to a 94-46 victory.

Wilkinson displayed some great perimeter shooting along with some drives into the paint as she finished with 21 points on 9-16 shooting from the field, 2-4 from beyond the arc. In her 27 minutes she also added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Tori Mahaffie demonstrated why the Marauders signed her from Oregon as she finished with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals in 17 minutes played. She shot extremely well from long range, finishing 4-5 from three-point land.

Anna Schmelzer saw extended action and she ended the game with 13 points, eight rebounds, one assist and three steals in 22 minutes played. She finished the game shooting 6-8 from the field.

Sloan Turner was billed as a started and didn't see much playing time, but in her seven minutes on the court she finished with 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks. She finished the contest shooting 5-8 from the floor.

Katelynn Kerkvliet was the last of the Marauders to finish with double-digit points as she finished with 10 points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Marauders (2-3) conclude their homestand on Sunday, Nov. 23, when University of Nebraska at Kearney pays a visit to Bismarck.
