Santa Claus, Mavericks Coming to Town as Marauders Host First Dual

U-Mary will host Minnesota State on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Santa to present beginning at noon

LAST WEEK: The University of Mary opened the conference season with a 38-6 loss to Augustana College. Trevor Johnson and Brock Krumm picked up the Marauders only wins.

THIS WEEK: U-Mary will host Minnesota State in its first home dual of the season as they host the Mavericks on Saturday at 1 p.m.

SANTA CLAUSE IS COMING TO TOWN: Beginning at noon on Saturday Santa Claus will be present to take pictures with fans. Additionally, candy canes and hot chocolate will be served.

THE RECORDS: U-Mary has competed in just one dual and is 0-1. Minnesota State  has yet to compete in a dual and will make its first dual apperance on Friday as they take on Minot State.

RECENT HISTORY: The Marauders have lost to the Vikings each of the last four years. U-Mary fell 23-13 last season against MSU. Trevor Johnson is the only returner who came away with a win in that meeting. Johnson deafated Nathan Hennes by fall at 4:52.

FRIENDLY FOE: Prior to joining U-Mary this summer, Head Coach Adam Aho spent the previous two seasons coaching at Minnesota State under Head Coach Jim Makovsky. 

THE OPPONENT: Ranked 18th in the nation, the Mavericks have not yet competed in a dual. Minnesota State has competed in four open meets this season, twice claiming individual titles.The Mavericks are led by top rated Cody Quinn at 165-weight class and fourth rated Alphonso Vruno at 141-weight class. Quinn has yet to compete this year, while Vruno holds a 10-7 record. Vruno has twice placed at open meets including winning the Buena Vista Open.

SO FAR THIS SEASON: U-Mary has competed in four open meets and one dual. Trevor Johnson, ranked seventh in the nation at 149, placed in both opens he has participated in, including a title at the Cobber open. Johnson is leading the team with a 10-1 record and his only lost came against a Division I opponent. Brock Krumm has a 7-6 record for U-Mary and has won four of his last five matches. 

UP NEXT: U-Mary will be off until January 5 when it heads to south for the Central Missouri Open.
