Bismarck, ND - In the final open meet of the season for the University of Mary wrestling team, All-American
Trevor Johnson claimed a title and four other Marauders placed at the 2012 Holiday Inn / Husky Open.
Fresh off capturing a title at the Dragon Open a week ago, Johnson placed first once again at 141. In the championship match the junior from Bismarck, ND, defeated Jay Hildreath of tournament host St. Cloud State University by a 3-1 decision. Johnson is ranked third in the nation.
Senior
Brady Anderson, wrestling at 197, claimed third. The native of Hamilton, MT, won an 11-3 major decision over Mic Berg of SCSU, the second-ranked team in the country.
Following a big win in the Marauders win over Minot State on Wednesday,
John Devito narrowly lost his final match to take fourth at 184. Facing Uthman Rabiu (unattached), Devito went to overtime before falling 5-3 in the first sudden victory round.
Kriss McCleary lost in overtime to finish sixth at 197. The senior from Napoleon lost 5-3 in the first sudden victory round to Luke Bellich (unattached).
At 165,
Trevor Daniel claimed sixth place.
U-Mart returns to the mat January 6 when the Marauders host Augustana in a Northern Sun dual.
