Trevor Johnson blew through the opposition on his way to winning the 141-weight division at the Dragon Open. The U-Mary All-American captured all four of his matches by big margins. In his closest match of the day, the U-Mary junior defeated Klinton Van Heuvein of Ridgewater College 12-6 to win the title. Krumm finished third at 165, winning three of four matches on the day. In the White Division, Jordan Eckholm (125) and Cole Monroe (285) each finished fifth.

Strong Start: The top-ranked NSIC wrestler at the 141-weight class, Trevor Johnson has placed in all four of the U-Mary open meets. With the release of the most recent Division II Wrestling Coaches Poll, Johnson is ranked third at 141-pounds.

National Poll: U-Mary, who finished sixth out of eight in the Northern Sun, was among those receiving votes. The Marauders finished the season with a 6-5 mark overall and finished fifth in the regional tournament. Three of the teams that finished ahead of the U-Mary: St. Cloud State, Minnesota State and Augustana, each cracked the top 20 in the coaches poll. The Marauders finished last season ranked 19th.

Trevor Johnson, one of two All-Americans for the Marauders last season, is ranked fifth in the nation in the 141-pound weight class. Last season Johnson finished sixth in the nation at the National Championships. Johnson is the only Northern Sun athlete to be ranked at this weight class. The Bismarck native finished the season with a 33-9 and record.

Conference Poll: With the release of the Northern Sun Pre-Season Coaches Poll, U-Mary finds itself ranked sixth out of nine teams. Defending champions St. Cloud took home second, while last year's runner-up, Upper Iowa, was voted number one.

Trevor Johnson, who is ranked fifth nationally, got the nod from the coaches as the top wrestler at the 141-pound weight class. The junior from Bismarck, ND, placed sixth at the NCAA championships last year in his first season at U-Mary.

Seniors Kriss McCleary (197) and Collin Engelhardt (157) also found themselves among the top five in the Northern Sun at their respective weight classes. Engelhardt placed fifth in the regional tournament last year and ranks fourth in his weight class.

Brady Anderson is hoping to make the NCAA championships for a third time this season. The senior from Hamilton, MT, qualified for the national tournament at 197 as a freshman and sophomore before just falling short last year. Anderson was ranked 6th in the 184-pound weight class.

Minot State: With a 4-4 record overall. The Beavers are returning three wrestlers that qualified for Nationals last year in Joshua Douglass (125), James Stanley (165) and Cody George (184). Matt Fetterley (174) has been the Beavers top wrestler this season finishing 3rd at the Bison Open, 4th at the Concordia College Open and 4th at the Dragon Open. Fetterley also won his match in the Beavers 44-0 win over the University of Regina. In their first year as part of the Northern Sun, Minot State was picked to finish 9th in the coaches poll.

Series: Minot State and the University of Mary are tied 1-1 in the overall series, each winning its home mat in the past two seasons.

Looking ahead: U-Mary will not compete again until after New Years. The Marauders will return to action with their home opener against Augustana College on January 13.
