Last week the Marauders had a disappointing weekend as they dropped a pair of conference games. First up was a 2-0 loss to Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs edged the Marauders 14-2 in shots on goal. Closing the weekend, was Saint Cloud State. The Huskies defeated the Marauders 2-1 with a game winning goal in the 48th minute.
This week U-Mary will continue their road-trip as they head south to take on Augustana and Wayne State.
THINK PINK: The women's soccer team will be doing a “Think Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Saturday, October 20th. The Marauders will be wearing pink jerseys and pink socks in honor of Breast Cancer awareness Month. Donations will be taken at the ticket booth. Women's soccer also plans to participate in other activities during the week to help raise awareness and money for the cause.
SCHEDULE NOTE: Both of the Marauders games next weekend will be played at Dacotah Centennial Field located at 800-898 Redwing Drive in Mandan. Saturday's game will start at 3 p.m. and Sunday's game will start at 2 p.m.
Next week the Marauders will be back at home as they begin their final home-stand of the season. U-Mary will open the weekend with Minnesota-Crookston. The Marauders are 2-1 in the past three years against UMC including a 2-0 loss last year. Next up will be Bemidji State University. U-Mary is 1-1-1 in the last three years against Bemidji, including a 2-2 tie last season.
Augustana College is off to a 4-6-2 (3-4-2 NSIC) start and has been outscored by a narrow 14-13 margin this season. The Vikings are currently on a three game losing streak and a six game winless streak. The last time Augie won was Sept. 16 against MSU-Moorhead. Last weekend AC fell 0-4 to #13 Minnesota State and 2-1 to Concordia. Offensively, sophomore F Payton Pry has emerged in conference play as the Vikings go to player, but has been limited to just six of the teams nine NSIC games. Pry has scored four goals already in Northern Sun play. Sioux Falls native Amanda Wagner has played well for Augustana in net, with three shutout already on the season. Defeating the Vikings 2-0 last year, the Marauders are 2-1 in the last three meeting.
Wayne State (1-10-1, 1-7-1 NSIC) has struggled so far this year being outscored by opponents 29-11. The Wildcats are coming off of a two loss weekend that saw them fall 3-1 to Concordia and 1-0 to Minnesota State. The WSC offense has been led this year by sophomore F McKenna Adams. Adams is sixth in the conference in scoring with 11 points. Freshman GK Courtney True has been kept busy all season with a conference leading 8.11 saves/game. The Marauders are 2-1-1 in the last three seasons against the Vikings, including a 2-0 win last years.
