Taylor Nagel placed fifth in the nation and earned All-American honors at the NCAA wrestling championships. The senior from Victor, MT, won three of five matches over the weekend and became just the second U-Mary NCAA wrestling All-American and tied for the school’s best finish at the national meet.
Nagel won two matches on Friday, March 10, to advance to the semifinals on Saturday. After losing his first two matches on the second day, he finished his college career with a victory to place fifth at 165 pounds. Nagel finishes the season 13-7 overall.
Joining Nagel as an All-American this season was Trevor Johnson, who finished sixth at 141. The only previous NCAA All-American was Jesse Laber, who placed fifth at 285 in 2008.
