2021 (Sophomore)
Laken was the starter at 133 lbs for the second consecutive season. He tallied a 1-6 record on the
year. For his hard work in the classroom; he earned NWCA Academic All-American Honors for the
second season in a row, as well as being nominated for the Student-Athlete Award by his teammates
and coaches. Laken also earned an NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence Award for touting a 3.6
and above GPA.
 
2020 (Freshman)
Laken competed at 133 lbs, where he earned a 13-21 record. He placed 6th at the Bison Open and finished 6th at the NCAA DII Super Regional V. He recorded one major decision and six pins on the year. Laken also boasts NWCA Academic All-American honors for his effort in the classroom. His teammates voted him as the Freshman of the Year and Most Improved for the End of the Season Awards.

PRIOR TO UMARY
High School
Laken is a Bismarck native who attends Bismarck High School. A future Nursing major, Boese ranks 1st out of 274 students in his class with a 4.0 GPA. He has been honored on the Academic All-State Team for wrestling, National Honor Society member, National Technical Honor Society member and Valedictorian of his class. In athletics, Boese is a two-time state medalist, winning a Class A individual state championship as Dual and Team state titles.  This season, he looks to hit the century mark in wins, as he currently notches a 90-18 high school record. The 126 lbs wrestler is ranked #1 in North Dakota Class A to start the season. Boese is a leader amongst his peers, as he was selected team captain of the BHS Demons wrestling team for the 2018 season. He is an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoys hunting and fishing. Boese is projected to compete at 133/141 for the Marauders.

Laken Boese is the son of Misti and UMary Alumn Dyke Boese. Laken is studying nursing at the University of Mary.
