Topher Carton is a University of Iowa graduate where he earned degrees in Sport and Recreation Management, Interdepartmental Studies- Business and workplace practices, and a certificate in Entrepreneurial Management. Carton wrestled for the Hawkeyes under coaches Tom and Terry Brands. He was a Division 1 NCAA qualifier at 141 lbs in 2017. He also placed 7th at the 2017 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, 2nd at the 2014 FILA Junior Freestyle National Championships, 5th at the 2013 FILA Junior Freestyle National Championships, and was a 4 year varsity letter winner. His overall record for the Hawkeyes was 71-26, this included 12 falls, 10 technical falls, and 14 major decisions.

Before attending the University of Iowa, Carton graduated High School from Davenport Assumption in Davenport, Iowa. He recorded an overall High School record of 175-2 with 99 falls and a 154 match win streak. He earned one state championship and one 2nd place finish at the Iowa State Tournament. Before attending Assumption, Carton spent two years at Alleman High School in Rock Island, Illinois. Here he won 2 undefeated state championships.

Carton comes to the University of Mary after coaching at Oak Park River Forest High School for one year. He helped to coach 9 state qualifiers including 2 place winners and one state champion. While at the University of Mary, he will be pursuing a masters degree in Physical Education and Athletic Administration. He currently lives in Bismarck with his partner Kelsie and their dog Rhea.
