Joe Cleary returns to the University of Mary after spending the 2013 season with the Concordia (Minn.) College men’s soccer program. Cleary, a 2012 graduate of U-Mary, has several years of college coaching experience. After serving as an assistant coach for the Marauders men’s soccer squad in 2011, Cleary joined the University of Wyoming women’s soccer staff under head coach Pete Cuadrado as the volunteer assistant coach for the 2012 season.
Along with his college coaching experience, Cleary also brings a wide range of coaching experience at the high school and club levels. Cleary has been a high school coach since 2008, spending time as an assistant for the West Fargo High boys (2008), Bismarck High boys (2009-2011), Bismarck High girls (2010), Century High girls (2013), and is currently the head coach for the St. Mary’s Central High School girls.
Heavily involved in coaching younger players, Cleary has been a club coach since 2007 with the Dakota United Soccer Club and serving as the Select Program Director for Tri-City Storm Soccer Club in Fargo, N.D. He has also been involved with both Dakota and Wyoming soccer Olympic Development Programs and has served on several soccer camp staffs, including Regis University, University of Denver, University of Wyoming, Rushmore Soccer, and Steamboat Soccer Academy.
Cleary is a certified athletic trainer and earned his USSF “C” license in 2013. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Performance.
