Madi Smith swam a time of 1:06.38 to place 16
th in the 100 yard IM. For the second straight semester, Madi Smith representing the Marauders earned the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors after posting a team grade point average of 3.50 during the 2017 spring semester. Maddi contributed to the program in the individual medley and backstroke events.
PRIOR TO UMARY
An all-state performer, Madi Smith was team captain at Great Falls (Mont.) High School. She is a four-year letter winner and competes in the 100 fly, 200 IM and the 100 breast stroke. An academic all-state selection who is an honor roll member, on the National Honor Society, earned an academic letter, volunteers with the Special Olympics and Big Brothers Big Sisters, teaches swim lessons and coaches middle school swimming, Madi is the daughter of Dina and Landon Smith and will pursue degrees in nursing and Spanish at the University of Mary.
"Madi is primarily a breastroker and flyer," said Marauders head coach
Allan McCallum. "She will add great depth to our program in those strokes and we hope to develop her in the IM giving us a lot of versatility. Madi will add a lot of excitement to our team with her positive attitude."
