A former standout swimmer at New Mexico State University, Dorottya Lennert, has been named the graduate assistant coach for the University of Mary women's swimming team.

"Dorottya is very knowledgeable about swimming and will bring great experience to our program," UMary head women's swimming coach
Allan McCallum said. "Having competed at a high level she understands what it takes for swimmers to compete at the national level. We are looking forward to having her on deck with us!"
Â
"I'm ecstatic about the opportunity to work as a graduate assistant swimming coach for the University of Mary," Lennert said about the announcement. "I take great pride in knowing that I will play a role in the establishment of a successful and prestigious swimming program. I'm looking forward to actively contributing to the development of this team to become conference champions and more throughout the duration of my stay at the University of Mary."
Â
Her experiences come from her time at NM State where she swam from 2012-2016 and became the fastest flyer in school history her junior year in the 100 and 200 Fly events.
Â
Last season Lennert was named the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year as her team finished second at the 2016 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Â
"Dorottya was one of the most impactful students we have had during my tenure at NM State," Aggie head women's swimming coach Rick Pratt said. "Not only was she a talented athlete, she was also an inspiration to her teammates through her hard work and attitude."
Â
In her first season as an Aggie, Lennert, won two individual events and received Academic All-WAC Freshman/Transfer team honors.
Â
As a sophomore, she built off her first season and finished the season with seven individual wins. Lennert finished fourth in the 100 fly at the conference tournament and recorded a career-best in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.98.
Â
But the following season may have been her best. Lennert had record times in the 100 Fly with a time of 53.96 and the 200 Fly with a time of 2:00.34
Â
Lennert earned second place at the WAC Championship in the 100 and 200 fly events in 2014-2015 and earned the Athlete of the Year award at the team's banquet.
