Lexus Lovan is entering her first season at the University of Mary as the Marauders Graduate Assistant track & field coach. Lovan serves as the assistant for the men’s and women’s track and field program and is responsible for sprints and jumps.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, Lovan was a transfer student athlete for the University of Mary. She has contributed to becoming part of two Women’s Northern Sun Conference Championship titles. She achieved and set a new University of Mary indoor long jump record that stood since 1998. This performance led her to earn the NSIC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. In her last season, Lovan became the 2021 NSIC Outdoor Long Jump Champion and was a NCAA national qualifier in this event, earned a personal record of 11.71 in the 100m, and was part of the USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic Team.

Before her time at University of Mary, she spent her academic and athletic career at Graceland University. As a former Yellow Jacket, she became a 9x NAIA National Qualifier and a 4x All-American in the long jump and a 1x All-American in the 60m. Lovan was named Honorable Mention and All-Conference by the Heart of America Athletic Conference. In addition, she was named Heart Field Athlete of the Year and Heart Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Lovan is a native of Des Moines, IA and graduated from Graceland University located in Lamoni, IA in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Movement Science. She recently earned a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Mary in April 2021. Lovan is currently pursuing a teaching licensure in physical education from the Master of Education Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment program at the University of Mary.
